A DC SPD protects photovoltaic arrays and DC power lines from lightning-induced surges and transient overvoltages, safeguarding inverters, charge controllers, and other sensitive DC equipment.
We offer the WTSP-D40 series, rated for 1000V DC systems with Type 2 surge protection, featuring high-energy MOV technology with thermal disconnect and visual status indication.
Install DC SPDs at the PV array combiner box, near the inverter DC input, and at the battery bank terminals. Multiple SPDs may be required for arrays with long cable runs.
Type 1 SPDs handle direct lightning strikes (10/350μs waveform). Type 2 SPDs (like WTSP-D40) handle indirect surges (8/20μs waveform) and are suitable for most PV installations.
WTSP-D40 features a visual indicator window — green indicates normal operation, red indicates the SPD has reached end-of-life and requires replacement.
